Organic vs. Conventional produce and more…

THIS is a fairly comprehensive article written for T-Nation. The author does a good job of highlighting a few common issues related to organics i.e. Do labels mean anything anymore? Is it really better for you? Regardless of your approach at home; be it the conventionally unsuccessful low-fat, low sodium, high fiber approach coupled with Western pharmaceuticals to treat the resulting disease , or the organic, grass-fed, gluten-free, low-carb ancestral type protocol that is too expensive and inconvenient, adopt the following for your fire house.

Buy good organic coffee, life is just too short for Folgers.

Eat wild game, wild caught fish, pasture raised chicken/eggs, and grass-fed beef HERE. (the less legs the better)

Buy locally grown seasonal vegetables HERE in as many color combinations as possible. (eat a rainbow often)

Eat a little bit of healthy fat from nuts, seeds, avocados, and quality oils (extra virgin olive and coconut)

Have some seasonal fruit but don’t over do it.

Eat sweet potatoes, yams, and squash instead of potatoes or pasta.

Please stop adding sugar and artificial sweeteners, no one likes a crack head.

Loose the sport drinks, energy drinks, and juice (reference line above).

Drink water (1/2 your bodyweight in oz. minimum) and iced tea sans sweetener.

And please reference the post on multivitamins, especially if you have a degenerative disease or are taking meds to stave off risk factors for heart disease.
